My DC++ Tutorial (mainly for getting into the music vid hub. U can also find me in the larges hubs DC++ is my favorite file sharing app. Its like a library to your pc and u can share and unshare with click of button. Its so versatile I decided to type a tutorial about it (and lose a hour of my precious life)... First of all, get the app here - DC++ Official version

Setting it up -

A lot of hubs like country code (some are 2 digit like AU) U don't need email address. Description is anything u want. Try active and if it doesn't work later, just change to passive. Active means u can dl from both active and passive while passive means u can only dl from active and NOT other passive. IM passive cos I cant port forward (im just so dumb and no one wants to help me)
In the next section "downloads" set your default dl directory. Leave the 2nd line blank. The max limits should be whatever your bandwidth allows and depends on the speed of the person uploading to you. Normally id say 4 or more unless u have a dl u really dieing for and then just say 1. The no. New dls I leave at zero but u can change later. Leave hublist cos there are no others. Leave httpproxy blank.

The next section "sharing" well share as much as u can (using add folder button) bearing in mind some hubs need u to share stuff that is related to the hub topic eg female bodybuilding hub needs u minimum 2 gb of female bodybuilding material. Some hubs needs u to share 50gb, some 100gb, and some even 500gb or no entry 4 u :0 that's why I bought extra hardrive so I can easily go past 500gb hee hee. With upoad slots, i'd say 2 is enuff unless u join several hubs at once in which case, some hubs force u to have 2 open slots per hub so 3 hubs means 6 slots and you better have the upstream to handle it!

Ignore the appearance and logs and sound tabs for now.

leave the boxes at top blank (the rollback is just gay, lets hope u never encounter it), the key is to check the box "not delete file lists when exiting" this way u can rebrowse the filelists without having to bother dling it again and it serves to help u remember who u were dling off.

Now this is extra section for the music vid hub which requires you to be registered. Once u connect to a hub u can add it to your favorites by right clicking the tab at the bottom and selecting add to favorites. To view your favorites, click yellow star and the ones with checkbox checked are the ones that startup with your dc++ client's startup. Now once u have added the hub to favorites, right click on the hub name and select properties. the top name and description field is what u see in the list of favorites. The address is the hub address. now the next fields are important. IT requires you to have a name like [r][AU]klumsyboy where r is registered, au is my country code and name is what I registered in the hub (u can enter hub but not dl lists etc unless u are registered. U get registered by sending your desired pwd and username to an op in the hub).

After installing, u will find ths proggie is really kewl, u can right click on any user to get their file lists and browse through all their files and double click on anything u like to add it to queue/ start dling. once in queue u can click on the download queue icon (the one with clock on it) and then right click on any file to search for alternates. Also you can save all the files in different folders when u right click on someone's file u can say download to and if u are short on space in one partition, u can move the file and use the move function in the download queue to move where u want to download it to.

Any questions, then lemme know here in my guestbook
